This 'Die Grossen Lagen Der Wachau Kollektion 2018' (Grand Crus of The Wachau Collection 2018), prompted by the success of the 2017 last year, is a unique collection consisting of nine single-vineyard wines from the best sites in the Wachau. This black-lacquered wooden box is adorned with a map of the Wachau region, highlighting the individual plots located along the Danube River. Below is a breakdown and detailed description of each of the wines contained in this collection box.

Voted #3 World's Best Vineyards of 2020 and #1 Europe's Best Vineyards of 2020, these Grand Crus bottles from The Wachau being the World’s Best Vineyards is not just any award list. The jury is exclusive, and so are the rated wine estates. Around 500 international sommeliers, wine critics and tourism experts have voted Domäne Wachau the Best Vineyard in Europe and ranked them third worldwide. Listed farther down are well-known names such as Châteaus Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild from Bordeaux, Ridge from the USA, as well as Henschke, Gaja, Antinori and numerous others from the rest of the world.


In addition to wine quality, the overall performance of each winery is assessed. This includes the range of tourist offerings, staff competence and friendliness, and the winery’s image and accessibility.


With the attractiveness of the particular region crucial for this award, Domäne Wachau is simply amongst the top wineries in the world! is one of Austria's most established and notable wine regions, specializing in dry wines made from Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. Smaragd is the ripest dry wine that must have a minimum of 12.5% alcohol level. Wachau is a small wine region that usually accounts for only around 3% of Austria's wine production, so the quality is high.
