Château Prieuré-Lichine 2007 Magnum captures the charm of Margaux and the challenges of its vintage. Despite its strong reputation, this wine is often overlooked in Hong Kong, yet it offers great value. The magnum size helps it age slowly and gracefully, keeping its freshness and complexity. In the glass, you’ll notice aromas of dried cherry, cassis, cedar, and earthy notes, giving a mature and welcoming first impression.

On the palate, the wine at 13% ABV is medium-bodied and smooth, with flavours of red currant and tobacco balanced by good acidity and soft tannins. It is elegant and well-balanced, though the 2007 vintage lacks the depth and intensity of the best years. The finish is smooth, though a bit short (still over 8 seconds of fruit finish).

This wine isn’t for those who want bold, powerful flavours, but it stands out for being easy to drink and pairing well with food. Its gentle maturity and smooth balance make it enjoyable to drink now.

Wine Spectator awarded it 89 points; Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling each gave 88; I gave it 91 Points. Priced at HK$690 per magnum, it’s well within the current market range (HK$650–$850 on Wine-Searcher), and stands as a compelling, approachable. In Summary, Prieuré-Lichine 2007 Magnum offers classic Margaux charm. It is elegant, mature, and best enjoyed soon. Only 3 bottles left.
