2006 Shirvington Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia

With a creamy upper and lower palate, the wine was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 12 months in 75% new oak and 25% one year old oak. Coconuty, oak ageing using 90% American oak and 10% French. Like all blockbusters, this 2006 vintage has an opaque red colour with a purple hue and gives an amazingly concentrated and intense nose with dark fruits joined with dark chocolate, vanilla bean and golden syrup nuances. Quite 'After-Eight'. On palate, sweet creamy layers, soft and supple tannins and full of liquorice, toasted coconut and cracked black pepper. In a way this is a simple wine.
