2016 EP Chateau de Myrat Sauternes

Honeyed pineapple, apricots, mango and vanilla bean. Lots of ripe tropical fruit coated with nuts in the finish which comes. Good acidities to keep this vibrant. Despite the fruit intensity, this wine in a easy-to-undertand a la Barsac style. Siimilar to Chateau Coutet and Chateau Doisy Daene, yet slightly riper, its 88% Semillon is vinified in 1/3 new, French oak; 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Muscadelle in Stainless Steel. The terroir is clay with limestone in the soil, so pretty intense and warm. This wime received consistently good comments from fellow, international tasters and Team members

Critical Acclaim

WS94

Wine Spectator - "Alluring ginger cream, glazed peach and honey notes glide through, with nice weight and length on the piecrust-infused finish.

Barrel Sample: 91-94"

The Wine Advocate - "The 2016 Myrat has a very perfumed bouquet with touches of petrol at first, although that recedes and leaves some lovely citrus/honeyed fruit. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity. There is plenty of vibrant, energetic fruit here and great precision on the finish. Dry Myrat has been on a roll recently and this continues their purple patch of excellent Sauternes.

Barrel Sample: 92-94 Points"

James Suckling - "This shows serious intensity and richness with a medium to full body, lots of sweetness and a rich finish. Oily. Better than the 2015.

Barrel Sample: 93-94"

Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "The 2016 de Myrat is lush, tropical and inviting. Unctuous and generous on the palate, the 2011 possesses striking depth from start to finish. Pineapple, passion fruit, lemon comfit and sweet floral notes add to the wine's exotic personality and feel. The de Myrat is one of the richer Sauternes of the year.

Barrel Sample: 91-94 Points"
