Cantina del Bertello Ciapat Roero Arneis 2016 DOCG
Straw yellow, lively and bright, with brilliant greenish reflections. This Cantina del Bertello Ciapat Roero Arneis 2016 is fresh and crisp, with delicate floral, citrus green pear, plum, gooseberry, notes of 'green' banana, peach, apricot, with hints of orange peel. Also, almonds aromas. The palate is clean, crisp, with notes of lemon and jasmine. Vivacious. Three years of bottle age adds to slight complexity, with a light hint of hay and breadcrumbs. We have on the table an Arneis that is balanced alcohol(13%) and acidity, with an elegant, medium and mineral finish. Tight. Best with Shrimp dumplings.
Some salient features are manual harvest, destemming, batonage 2 to 3 times a week hence the texture and salinity, sur lie, cold stabilization hence the high fruit quality.
The production area is Rocca Pian Alto. Vines are 40 years old. Guyot training system.
Considered a difficult grape to cultivate, Arneis tends to over ripen before phenolic maturity reached. Being called the White Nebbiolo makes much sense, as the Arneis is different from usual whites. Bright and refreshing in colour and with pineapple nose, citrus extracts and minerals.DD91.
