L'Eclat Valois 2014, Pomerol
Deep ruby, with a tight rim. Dark fruited. Intense. Original for a Pomerol, appellation that favours Merlot, this small vintage from old vines is composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc parity. Still wholly suppressed on the nose. It should be elegant by 2 or 3 years' ageing, as it has been aged eighteen months in new barrels. The bouquet combines ripe fruit, floral touches and well-melted vanilla and spicy oak.
Gourmet and delectable, both round and fresh, the mouth offers a dense flesh, supported by silky tannins that will ensure proper care. Full-bodied with long length.
The Leydet family, established on the lands of the Liberals since 1862, exploits nearly 16 ha of vines (in organic conversion) in saint-Emilion Grand Cru (Ch. Leydet-Valentin) and Pomerol (Ch. De Valois). At the helm since 1996, Frédéric Leydet initiated the organic conversion of his domains (certification in 2015).
