Ann Gros Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2017

Fresh raspberries and currants with a spicy finish. Lightish, yet attaining an interesting, medium volume and good length. A classic 2017.

Tasting notes alone cannot convince well the boldness of the Ann Gros approach. There are, in our opinion, always some aspects of modernity within the Burgundian classicism with this wine. Many commentators would say, 'Modern Classic', in that it is fruit driven, clean, not extracted, lightly oaked, with supple tannins. It is elegant, as every wine particularly a Burgundy should. Score is not bad, like RP88.

This entry-level wine is the ambassador to Anne Gros other pricey wines. Of minimal production, this Bourgogne Rouge comes from 3 plots in Nuits Saint Georges, Vosne Romanee, and Flagey-Echezeaux. It is on flatter soil, on the eastern side of N74.

In global wine communities, Anne Gros is probably the most respected female winemaker of Burgundy along with Lalou Bize-Leroy.
