Chateau Bernadotte 2015

Dark, inky nose. Mixed black (blackcurrant and plums) and red fruit (wild strawberries), with certain greenness from the Cabernets. The right amount of Tertiary tones (meat and spice). The textured palate, with firm tannin and excellent acidities. Finish not long, but adequate as a food wine. Slight decanting will bring out its best. Excellent value for now. A high-quality wine for slurping. Parker likes it too.

NM awarded it 90, saying. 'this 2015 Bernadotte shoots above my expectation. It has a clean and fresh bouquet with plenty of appealing graphite notes. The palate is medium-bodied with dusky black fruit sprinkled with black pepper, good length and nicely focused. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.'

Also a JS91, JS says this has a very plush and slightly spicy palate with earthy notes as well as a gravelly, slightly leafy edge. The palate has a very composed core of fine, long tannins that finishes with gently grippy freshness. Try from 2021.
