Chateau Citran 2008, CBE Haut Medoc

Sharp garnet rim with a deep ruby core. Iconic Bordeaux nose, berry fruit, vanilla and a hint of cigar box. On the palate, dense candied fruit(red currants, cherries) as well as licorice. And the tone of underbrush, smothered by old oak with ripe, tamed tannins followed by a whiff of tobacco. ABV is 13.5, showing beautiful, classic touch with a medium body of Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois. Finish is earthy, reflecting the quality soil. We were told the neglected soil was intelligently regenerated, and abandoned plots restored to their former splendour.

Nose like a cru Level claret with a delicate palate. Not many CB has second wines to offer- Chateau Citran has! The first wine has some intensity and complexity. It finishes like a Fifth Growth Haut Medoc.

Score is excellent. WE 93.
