Haut Bages Liberal 1998

Château Haut-Bages Libéral, particularly well-located on a much coveted plateau in Bages. The vineyard has three plots that adjoin Latour, Pichon-Lalande and Grand Puy Lacoste. The soil consists of fine gravel. Most of the vineyard replanted in the 1960s produces wines that reveal their true character. The dominant aromas of blackcurrants offer outstanding balance and pleasant suppleness. This very clean 1988 bottle shows a mature Pauillac character and may be soft and too dry for Pauillac admirers who expect a powerful wine. Composition is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Biodynamic.
