Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Pinot Noir 2016, Victoria, Australia

This 100 percent Pinot Noir was sourced exclusively from ‘Billi’s Vineyard’ in the Strathbogie Ranges. Fermented with wild yeasts in stainless-steel tanks and matured for six months in 50 percent French puncheons and 50 percent French Foudres. Fowles Wines always ferments their wines to zero grams of sugar per liter. To me, thewre is always a bit of funk for PInots fermented from wild yeast.

The intention with Ladies who Shoot their Lunch Pinot Noir, is to create a wine with intensity, personality, and layers of complexity to complement wild meat. This wine is pale red with some earthy hues. The nose is infused with savoury notes of oak, forest floor and some cherry. In the mouth, an elegant and complex palate structure with smoked meats and some light strawberry. The wine has great balance and length, a seriously sophisticated wine!

91 Points, James Halliday

“Mostly matured in large old oak. It's a reductive wine, spicy too, with floral perfumes and sweet, almost jellied, fruit flavours running eagerly through the palate. Spicy tannin is an able accessory. It's only semi-varietal, in the strict sense, but regardless, as a lightish red wine it's quite lovely to drink.”
