Tasting notes: Lestage Simon 2000, Chandelliere 2000, Le Monge 2008
Chateau Lestage Simon 2000, Listrac CB
Dark ruby color with pink rim.Notes of blackcurrant and dried fruits, with hints of licorice, leather, meaty and rutty tones that resemble some apparent characters of Pauillac. Ripe on the palate with medium body and acidity, and ample but soft tannins.Well structured and has a long silky finish. Rare and fine wine by now. Just $298@(original carton of 6)? No way! DD88.
Chateau Chandelliere 2000, Medoc CB
Deep ruby colour with medium orange rim showing great maturity.
Coloured tints due to the oak barrels ageing. Its distinctive bouquet presents toasty and ripe fruits notes with a rich and tannic structure, leading to slight mineral finish. Smoothen out and balanced with the duet of 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 70 % Merlot. Rare wine by now. At $238-probably the best value in town. DD89.
Chateau Le Monge 2008, Medoc
Sustained and deep for this Médoc nose of red plum and cherry fruits with. Old tones of slightly spice and rancio. The attack is round and supple, supported by soft tannins. At this price $99@(case price), it is a steal. DD86.
