Castello di Ama Chianti Classico San Lorenzo 2011
This 4-square, humble wine Cuvee San Loreanzo from the famous Castello di Ama is an understandatement. From 80% Sangiovese with 20% Malvasia Nero and Merlot; this very successful and well-priced cuvee has only been made since the introduction of the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione category in 2010. Floral and silky with violets and ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit; quite brooding dark spices evident with dried oregano, black olive and tar. Incredible finesse and elegance for its level. Only 15000 cases, which is of small quantities considered a commercial wine. 100% barrique-aged(20% new).
This wine is made cru level and the quality can only be matched by Top Crus. The sleek tannins, subtle tastes with lot of elegance are just superb.
