Everyday Bordeaux Wine 2015 En Primeur(Part 4)

On top values from the left & right bank, these were what we tasted.

Tasting Team has a special feeling about CHATEAU LA TOUR CARNET 2015, NM 91-93, DECANTER 90, reasonably priced, slightly below 2010, and which benefits from a dynamic distribution international level. The level of stock available in Bordeaux is ridiculously small. Yet back to the Hong Kong market situation, this wine is unfortunately being 'overdone' in the sense that importers are just blind to pricing this wine with a view. Margin is razor thin and wine sales persons just keep on importing and slashing prices. This wine unfortunately is a one-sided buyers’ wine. Very sad, if you narrowly look what those darn, fxxking stupid idiots had done to Haut Médoc Grand Cru Classé CHATEAU LA TOUR CARNET 2015 here for the small market of Hong Kong, you might understand how we feel. Not that bad. Not the end of the world. Nice to kill in the name of consumer sovereignty anyways as people always fo. They are just small wine companies. Summer flies. Let them die.

A real treasure from the right bank, thanks to the great work of the family DECOSTER, Fleur Cardinal is nestled between Chateau Valandraud & Chateau Faugères, another brilliant overachiever this year is Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé CHATEAU FLEUR CARDINALE 2015, one of the tasting Team’s favourite, a JS 95-96, WS 90-93, B+D 92-94. We all like this wine.

Chateau LA VIEILLE CURE 2015 Fronsac is considered by many professionals as an over performing estate. The 2015 is definitely a sleeper of the vintage again, available at a slightly cheaper price this year than 2009 & 2010, pure fruit, full bodied, an obvious great value! JS93, WS91, Galloni93, NM92. For your information, the market is pretty clean in Bordeaux, there are ZERO stock of 2005 2009 & 2010 available and the estate offers very little stocks on 06 & 08 and just a bit more of 11 & 12:

These wines will make quality quaffing with lots of terroir characters. Saint Emilion CHATEAU MILENS 2015, NM 91-93, Yves BECK 8-90; FRONSAC CHATEAU LES TROIS CROIX 2015, NM 91-93. We tasted the 1995 vintage 3 Weeks ago. They are still singing; they are already 20 years old!!!. The Graves one from Consulting Hubert de Bouard's CHATEAU CHANTEGRIVE ROUGE 2015, JS 91-92. This is a great simple wine underrated and understated. CHATEAU CHANTEGRIVE BLANC CUVEE CAROLINE 2015, JS 92-93, DECANTER 91, JR 16.50! You can beat this price if you are for quality quaffing white?

These are also very good quaffing wines. MARGAUX – CH. LA TOUR DE MONS 2015 , excellent value, JS93, WS90, WS92. LISTRAC – CH. FONREAUD 2015, VINUM 16.5, DECANTER 89, DEL MONEGO 90. ST EMILION GCC – CH. YON FIGEAC 2015, mid-range price insiders’ wine. Consistent performer and score like NM 87-89. Impressive VINOUS 92-95!

Last but not least, a highlight on Chateau Cote de Baleau, a rising estate which was acquired by the talented family CUVELIER (also owner of CLOS FOURTET, POUJEAUX), and which Neal Martin really enjoyed and awarded with a great score NM92-94.

ST EMILION GC – CH. COTE DE BALEAU 2015 NM 92-94. Price-wise, this wine is great as well. Neal Martin’s tasting goes, ‘The 2015 Côte de Baleau has a refined and intense bouquet with precise black and red fruit, seamlessly integrated oak and a sense of terroir coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity and plenty of finesse and poise towards the finish. This is such a pretty Saint Emilion that you almost overlook its length and persistence. It is one of the best wines that I have tasted from the estate.’ Drink 2019 and beyond. We concur.
