La Tourelle De Croizet Bages 2010, Pauillac
Created in 1990s, THE TOURELLE DE CROIZET-BAGES being the second wine of Pauillac 5th Growth Croizet-Bages produces only 20 000 bottles(only 1500 cases). So rarity could be considered one plus point, and its playing simple, quick access Pauillac for gourmet (Cantonese style perfect) may be another. Showing lighter and refreshing style, focusing on red plum and cranberry fruits on the bright, fresh, crisp side, the nose is more interesting with its blackberry, earth and tobacco notes building up in glass over 45 minutes tsting. Palate is simple yet stylistically Pauillac. Length medium.
Despite it slight mustiness (so should let it breath in glass for 5 to 10 minutes), it is balanced. World price is very stable. In a supermarket in Paris, it was sold at Euro 25. Produced from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. ABV13 %. 2010 vintage facilitates second wines in terms of structure and development.
In Vivino, 10% of the tasters voted 5-star and 50% 4-star. Really not bad.
Owner is the Quie family, who also owns Chateau Rauzan-Gassies and Chateau Bel Orme Tronquoy de Lalande. Wine making facilities and vineyards are modern.
The first wine won WE93. Not bad.
