Neo 2005, Ribera del Duero

Deep ruby with brilliance and clarity; tight rim. Dark and red fruit(classic Tempranillo profile) and dried fruit(figs); exotic flowers, wood with sweet spices, nutty and balsamic. On the palate, lovely structure as well as integrated wood and tannins. The taste shimmers with layered fruit, with red cherries, then black plums and prunes are long(over 10 seconds of fruit with strength). Classic spice and liquorice finish; very balanced(power and finesse; fruit and oak); quite rich and dense.

As good as Alion and even Valbuena 5, both from Ribera del Duero. And 2005 is a Very Good year, according to Wines From Spain.

Scores impressive.

RP95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2005 Neo is a powerful wine with a brooding bouquet of balsam wood, Asian spices, incense, and blackberry. Structured for the long haul and very rich, this impeccably balanced offering will evolve for 6-8 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2030.
