Kevin Sherwood St Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Single Vineyard, Napa Valley

This St Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 by Kevin Sherwood is from a classic and easy-to-understand Napa Valley single vineyard whose fruit displays a bouquet of blackberry and dark cherry. Ageing in the bottle for some eight years nurtured tones of leather, liquorice and dark chocolate. It is slightly better and tastier than its 'junior brother' the White House Cabernet Sauvignon in term of overall balance and finer tannins. On the chiseled palate with medium finish, there is fresh and clean blackcurrant fruit with good acidities as grapes for this 2009 vintage harvested in cooler mornings of September. Acidities are also rounded off by nice oak balance. A correct and well Napa Valley, this bottle is at alcohol level is listed at 13.8%, which feels not too loud though on nose and palate though. Decant in glass(or full), chill it down will help. We will award with a score of 92.
