Chateau Bernadotte 2007, CBS Haut Medoc

Inky nose. Mixed black (blackcurrant and plums) and red fruit (wild strawberries, raspberries, cranberries), with certain greenness from the Cabernets. The right amount of tertiary tones (meat and spice) with a textured palate, firm tannin and excellent acidities. Finish not long and elegant, but adequate as a food wine. Slight decanting will bring out its best. Excellent value for now. A high-quality wine for slurping. Our score for this wine is 90—consistent scores from 87 to 88 from international writers.

Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande acquired Chateau Bernadotte in 1997. In 2007, both Chateaus became the property of the Louis Roederer Champagne house. Bernadotte is now owned by King Power Group Limited of Hong kong.
