Domaine Wachau, Riesling Smaragd Ried Loibenberg 2018

Loibenberg is one of the “Grand Crus“ of Austria. The ancient dry stone walls (some are dating back to the 14th century) reach up to 420 m above sea level. The soil is dominated by weathered primary-rock, so called “Gföhler Gneiss“, with layers of loess and loam in some areas. Warm pannonian airstreams make Loibenberg the „hotplate“ of the Wachau. Stretching out over more than 20 hectares, the Loibenberg is one of the Wachau’s biggest single vineyards and famous for its diversified microclimate. The lemon balm and faint lime peel hints on the nose of this wine signal freshness. On the palate, they coalesce into zesty, vivid drive, making you want more of this crystal-clear freshness. Although light in body, it totally delivers on the aromatic refreshment front. There is no notoble scores yet.
