Fontalpino Chianti Classico 2012, DOCG

A well-awarded wine(90RP, 90AG, 90ST) is a classic Sangiovese with smooth drinking. With complex plum, dark cherries, dry tomatoes and a touch of Christmas pudding, this wine bottle give a structured palate with linear acidity, ripe, fine tannins, and pleasing finish of pure fruit. Almost a decade for nurturing in the bottle creates some complexities.

This organic wine produced by Fattoria Carpineta Fontalpino is an organic winery in Tuscany that traces its past back to the 1800's. It is located in the heart of Tuscany, very close to Siena and in the historical commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, at the bottom of the hill of Montaperti where the famous battle between Siena and Florence took place on September 4, 1260. The winery comes from a historical site, where you would find Carpineta (an area with silver-backed leaves) and Fontalpino (the fount with the pine trees of Montaperti).

The winemaker Gioia Cresti recently won the award for 'Best Women Wine Maker of the Year' at the ‘2015 SAKURA Japan Women's Wine Awards'. She is the vineyard's oenologist and a highly sought-after consultant who has worked with many great Italian producers such as Volpaia, Argiano, Col d'Orcia and more.
