KiliKanoon Covenant Shiraz 2005, Clare Valley

Parker summarised well(edited). "The 2005 Shiraz "Covenant" from the Clare Valley aged 22 months in French and American oak hogsheads, 30% new, and bottled unfined and unfiltered and best to decant lightly. It exhibits cooler climate hints of mint and menthol and mineral, pencil lead, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Elegantly styled, with excellent depth and concentration, it will evolve for 3-4 years and drink well through 2020."

We testify it is still drinking well today, in 2022 and beyond. Its cracky, Clare style- still big, undoubtedly complex- has gone beyond 'big' and balances robust coffee and mocha plum fruit flavours with textural elegance and complexity. It was blended batch by batch and bottled unfiltered for maximum flavour. Best to decant lightly. Quite elegant.
