Louis Max Bourgogne Chardonnay Beaucharmes 2018

Yellow gold showing some ageing with a brilliant robe. A clean reflection and a nose are bursting with fresh, tropical fruits aroma, with oaky vanilla, honey, and acacia notes. Simple, yet complete and round in the palate, the same new fruits flavours and a 10+ second fruit finish is generous enough. Fruit fermented out with sugar at a mere 3g/litre like some of the Brut Champagne. Style is dry, and alcohol at 12 % is at a coolish Chill it to dampen the ripeness, if you may want it even cooler.

I know Louis Max's wines pretty well because I was the local agent from 1997 to 2002, and then comes Watson's and after that. The winemakers are relatively young; the winemaking style is always modern, clean and bright and on the lean side. At least that ess the time when I cherish the elegance of Audrey Hepburn more than a voluptuous Pamela Anderson. It will Be a good food wine to drink for long hours rather than a wine that will impress with a juicy body.

Louis Max is a big company. I visit Laurent Max in 1999. For this humble wine, he got the best excellent fruit from Chablis and Macon and Cote Chalonnaie and Cacnnaise for the structure. Also, there are great staff to do the table sorting and Selection. So even a small Bourgogbe Blanc like this wine should give good structured and fruity drinking. This wine should be good for drinking now because the drinking window should be 2 to 3 years after bottling.

Louis MAx has Grand Crus, but it has never attained the status of those Grand Cru Single VIneyard makers.
